Supporting trump’s fascist government approved media

It’s difficult to wrap your head around the idiocy of the Citrus County commissioners that made the decision to NOT renew the subscription of the New York Times because they agree with trump that it is “fake news.” A panel of five (you guessed it) white guys made this decision on the same day that the orange dictator wannabe also refused the subscription. While some may roll their eyes and say “well, that’s Florida,” this is a dangerous step towards the same “government approved media” that fascist governments have; with the next move being book banning and then burning.

As reported in the Orlando Weekly, “Ironically, in the same meeting, the commissioners declared October ‘Friends of the Library Month.’

Sandy Price, the advisory board chairman for the county’s libraries, told the
Citrus County Chronicle that she was disappointed and worried the commission, which is technically nonpartisan, was putting politics ahead of the public’s needs.

‘Someone’s personal political view does not have a place in deciding what library resources are available for the entire county,’ said Price to the Chronicle. ‘Libraries have to ensure all points of view are represented.’
