Some may think that referring to Republicans as “fascists” is simply trite, we have little in our social recent history that expresses this kind of human disgust. What began as obvious dog whistle terms, made with sly smiles and winks, is no longer being hidden, nor are they even trying. Many of the GQP supporters will scoff at these accusations, however, all you have to do is mention supporting proper immigration procedures or trans people and they go ballistic, quickly exposing their hate against any people of color and their homophobic sex-obsessed attitudes. While they make feeble attempts to act like they are “smart” — it is simply a cover for the very same right wing extremism as we viewed in the dystopian story of “The Handmaid’s Tale.” We are watching in real time their attempts to completely control women’s reproductive choices, destruction of the LGBTQ+ community, removal of books or any historical references that they don’t like, and the push for their twisted version of Christianity to the rest of the country. In other words, they are creating Gilead; all that’s missing is the “punishment wall.”
