There is no asking the question “how did we get here,” because for Republicans, taking over the country has been a long game, planned for decades, and just waiting for a grifter like trump to come along. The GOP knew that their supporters would blindly follow them over the cliff of destruction of our Republic, throwing away Democracy like a piece of fast food trash. They knew because they have been grooming them for this day for a very long time. If you doubt any of this — you only need to turn on their propaganda so-called “news” programs and you will see a world that doesn’t exist in reality. What began with the John Birch Society was continued with Nixon’s “Southern Strategy” and then Reagan’s ability to open the doors to misinformation by overturning the “Fairness Doctrine.” Now we are entering the next phase of their plans where the GQP will contest all elections that they did not win.
We watched the trump lawyers make feeble attempts with accusations of illegal voting, and thankfully we have judges in place that rejected their pathetic moves due to lack of evidence. However, the GQP has learned its lessons on that one, and instead have been passing laws in various Republican-led states that give unqualified and uncertified people the authority to simply reject election results that they don’t like and instead make their own decisions on who wins.
