Support of trump by So-Called Christians — Turning my back on Christmas

The jaw-dropping support of the continued hate, racism, bigotry, and sexism that trump displays on a daily basis by those that call themselves “Christians” has caused me to reject Christmas and everything that it stands for. It is bad enough that a majority of the country begins seeing this holiday around September and that it has turned into an all-out greed-fest as well as one-upmanship in families, but that the people that profess to follow the teachings of Jesus not only look up to but voted for an evil piece of slime like trump, was the final straw. I no longer even acknowledge that Christmas exists, and it has made me a lot happier.

I was raised in a combination Christian household, attending church and sharing in at least meager attempts of the Ten Commandments. Like a lot of white families, Christmas was surrounded by a ton of images of white Mary, Joseph, and Jesus; even though historians and archeologists show that they were not “white”. While we were considered to be poor, our family made every attempt at enjoying the holiday by sharing what we had. I continued this tradition once I had my own family. We would go all out with lights and always anonymously adopt a family-in-need.
