These Aren’t Americans

One of the things many people in the U.S. Chose to overlook over the years is the fact that even before and during World War II, there were those in our country that backed Hitler and fascism. Under the guise of “patriotism” (sound familiar?) On Feb. 20, 1939 New York’s Madison Square Garden filled up with those that waved both American flags and swastikas. Sponsored by the German American Bund, over 20,000 people filled the stands in support of Hitler, white supremacy, and fascism — all wrapped up in the banners and flags to verify their belief in Hitler’s takeover of Europe. Speakers spewed alt right garbage in their attempt to keep telling the crowd that America was founded on white nationalism and..they cheered. These beliefs are not new — and while decades passed with little or no attention, they were quietly being shared with each new generation. Many have acknowledged that trump has now given these people a “voice” — however, they are far from anything that we can consider to be “Americans.”

During the 1939 rally numerous people at the podiums blamed the Jews for taking jobs and hoarding wealth.While they used the birthday of George Washington to try to reinforce their ideologies and blend the horrors of their hate speech with anything that resembled our country, it was obvious that the repeated “Aryan purity” concept was…
